Daisy Snow is a family run, independent homewares business, based in North Devon. Originally known as Ian Snow, we’ve operated with a commitment to fairtrade and hand craft for many years.
We’re a team of 7 based on an organic farm in North Devon. Our goal is to run a commercially viable business that champions hand craft and traditional techniques, whilst providing stable, artisan employment across many areas of India.
We design products that celebrate colour, and that are made from durable, natural & recycled materials, in small batches. Our products are made using laborious techniques that bring the charm of handcraft into your home.
Meet Daisy
I’m a maximalist at heart, and I am naturally drawn to anything colourful, bold and patterned. My personal style has evolved over time, shaped through my early exposure to hand crafted wares in India, as well as growing up rurally in North Devon. My mum and grandma have always been great believers in never buying anything new. I've grown up around clothes and homes that are accidentally beautiful, and not perfectly put together.
I believe a home should provide a snapshot of someone’s life, a thrown together mix of memories attained, vintage treasures collected and beautiful pieces mindfully sourced. It should evoke a feeling, a sense of a person’s identity and life lived.
Alongside the business, my life lies within the fields of North Devon. I fill my time gardening, foraging, cooking and practicing herbal medicine. I can’t imagine a life outside the countryside, I feel at home in nature, caring for animals and feeling deeply connected to our food sources and the land.
Although this website was launched in 2011, our story began much before. Growing up immersed in the family business, I was just 2 years old when I went on my first buying trip to India. My sister and I spent our childhood playing in the warehouse, working at tradeshows and accompanying our mum in whatever she was doing. From a young age, she involved us in the business, letting us design products, style for catalogue shoots, pick products & work in the warehouse. By the age of 15 I had experienced a lot, I had so many ideas and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I managed to leave school early, and by the age of 16 with no idea how to do it, I was working on building a retail brand & website.
All the pieces of the puzzle...
Jakki
Jakki started Ian Snow wholesale in 1999 when she bought a farm in Devon that had a cow shed where she could store her stock. She grew the business over 20 years, supplyling hundreds of shops across the world.
Ian
Ian started importing from India back in 1977, he traded on market stalls, eisteddfods & from various shops across Wales. He now runs a big gift shop in Machynlleth, and still imports his own range of Nepalese clothing.
Daisy
Daisy started this website in 2011 when she left school. Inspired by her mum's wholesale business, she loved hand crafted products but wanted to establish a brand that wasn't reliant on other people to sell their product.
India
In 2018, India opened a lifestyle store & cafe called Sunshine & Snow, showcasing independent brands. Across our three floors, you'll find handmade gifts, natural skincare, ceramics and homewares.
